India.Arie is ready to perform for you and yours during her upcoming North American tour, Soulbird Presents a SongVersation with India.Arie.
The singer has announced dates for her fall outing which opens September 21 in Seattle, making stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and New York, among other cities, before concluding on November 24 in Boston.
The 29-date tour comes in support of her latest album, SongVersation, which became her fifth number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and fifth top 10 debut on the cross-genre Billboard 200 chart. India tells ABC News Radio what she enjoys most about connecting with her fans live in concert.
"Everything, like just that moment when you're there and there's nothing else that you're thinking of, your whole mind, body and spirit, everything is doing the same thing," she explains. "Because, you know, for the rest of your day, you're multitasking and stuff -- on stage it's just all living for that moment. And I love being with the audience and seeing how people react to things. You know that's why I created SongVersation because there's always more to do then just sing, its a fellowship if you want it to be. So I just love it."
The "Cocoa Butter" singer, who took an extended hiatus from music, spilled on why she thinks people will enjoy her fifth studio effort.
"I think that the music that I make all throughout my career, but even more so with SongVersation, is music for people who are looking for meaning," she says. "So if you're looking for meaning inside of your entertainment, I think that anyone who is cerebral and creative together, like thinkers who are creative, people who love unique voices, that's what I am."
Tickets India's tour go on sale to the general public this Friday, July 19, while special VIP packages will be available for purchase beginning tomorrow, July 16, via Ticketmaster.com.
